Author C.V. Madison has stopped by to tell us about her new M/M steampunk release, With Proper Maintenance, and I can't wait to read it! Thanks for stopping by, C.V. Congratulations on the new book! Book Info and Excerpt...Title: With Proper Maintenance Author: C.V. Madison Release date: 09 October 2014 Publisher: Jupiter Gardens Press Blurb: Named the youngest head engineer in the history of his company, Ethan Cole's first voyage on the Platinum Bow is his chance to stand out from his father's shadow. His dream is dashed by the roguish Cecil Goode, promoted to Ethan's position just before the ship sets sail. When the Bow is hijacked by pirates, Ethan and Cecil have to work together to bring the pirates' nearly wrecked ship to safety. Will they make it to port before the ship plummets from the sky? Excerpt: Ethan signed the bottom of the requisition form and gave the list another once-over. Accuracy was the key to a clean, tight, steam-powered airship. All forms were submitted in triplicate with neat, easy to read handwriting. Two copies would be on the captain’s desk within the hour, just as promised. Three sharp raps brought him from his work as he finished the final pen stroke. Ethan set aside his quill, careful not to spill ink or make a mis-mark on the copied requisition forms, and pulled open the door. Captain Quinn, a tall man with a head of thick black hair, a lantern jaw with a cleft chin and, presently, five-o-clock shadow, filled the doorway. He wore no coat and tie, his shirt was unfastened three buttons down and his trousers hung wrinkled. Ethan hoped he covered his shock at the captain’s attire. “Good evening, Engineer Cole. I hope I find you well.” “Indeed. What might I do for you, Captain?” “Have you walked through the engine compartment? Is everything satisfactory for departure?” “I found a few pieces in need of attention. I am duplicating requisition forms now, sir.” “Requisition form?” The captain’s thick fingers pinched the corner and plucked the crisp page from Ethan’s grasp. “I can’t even read this.” Ethan’s cheeks heated. How could he have been so foolish as to keep the original in hand when he answered the door? “I will make the submitted forms legible.” “Tut, tut, tut.” The captain wagged a stout finger and leaned in, his cologne mixing with the bourbon on his breath. “You come highly recommended. I have no worry. Go, find what you need, stop off at the office on the way back and give them your forms. I can’t exactly allow them to see me like this and expect to keep my job, now can I?” Ethan shook his head and took a step back. The captain weaved in the doorway and, thankfully, returned from whence he came. Once the pervasive odor of stale bedsheets and hair oil dissipated, Ethan drew a breath of relief. If the captain didn’t dry out, Ethan would be certain they wouldn’t leave port. A captain should keep his wits about him at all times. At any point a mechanical failure or invading ship could kill an entire crew. Ethan would not become another casualty of piracy. Okay, okay! I know! How could Damon Salvatore NOT be #1 on my list? Let me just say that I went back and forth on this one. At times I thought he would end up with the top spot, but then I would watch, or even just look at pics of, the vamp who will be at #1, and he stole my heart again - you'll have to wait until next month to find out who it is, though. But back to the sexiest runner-up around, Damon Salvatore. Believe it or not, I only started watching The Vampire Diaries this year - check out this post if you doubt me. |
He had me at, "Hello, brother." I mean, come on. Look at that face. How could anyone resist him? I've been a Damon girl ever since, and of course, I'm a Delena shipper. With an amazing actor and human being like Ian Somerhalder, what's not to love?
I have to admit I've not read the books, and I'm not sure I ever will, but I'm thankful for Netflix so I can re-watch the show any time I like.

I know, I know. How can Lestat only be #3 on my list? I guess you'll just have to wait to see the top 2 to understand.
I first fell for Lestat in the movies, and then I went back to read the books. I love him in film and on the page and can't wait for the new Anne Rice book, Prince Lestat, coming in October. In honor of this book's release, I've been rereading the first three books in the series since, from what I've heard, the new book picks up after The Queen of the Damned.
Now, back to the movies for a moment. In Interview with the Vampire we have Tom Cruise's portrayal of Lestat, and in The Queen of the Damned we have Stuart Townsend's version. I know most people prefer Tom's Lestat, but I prefer Stuart's. Don't get me wrong. Both are sexy and dark, but there's just something about Stuart's swagger that does it for me. Be sure to leave a comment before you go, and tell me which Lestat you prefer.

Are you ready for the next sexy vampire in my countdown? This time it's True Blood hottie Alexander Skarsgard, playing that badass viking vamp, Eric Northman. It's so sad that this is the last season for the show, but at least we'll have had seven seasons of watching Eric kick ass. Although, I do miss the long hair. I've only read a few of the books, but what I read of him in them, I liked. I just hope, as far as the show goes, that Eric comes back soon and that Sookie ends up with him. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

It's time for the next sexy vampire on my list of favorites. There have been many on-screen versions of the most famous bloodsucker of all, Dracula, but the latest incarnation was my absolute favorite. Unfortunately, the show was recently cancelled, so there was only one season to love this vampire. At least they ended the first season in a way that gave viewers some closure. Yes, there were also unanswered questions, but the most important part of the show, the relationship between Dracula and Mina, came to fruition. So who played this sexy vampire? Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

Is Dracula one of your favorite bloodsuckers, too? If so, where does he rank on your favorites list? Any guesses who else will be on my top 6 list? Check out this post if you want to know which vampire came in at number 6.
I've decided to do a series of posts about my top six favorite vampires. (I originally had this as my top five but realized I forgot an important one.) Believe me, it was very difficult to determine what order these sexy bloodsuckers would be in since I love them all so much. I did my best, though. So...coming in at number 6 on my countdown is...
Henry Fitzroy from the TV show Blood Ties, which was based on the Blood Books by Tanya Huff. Kyle Schmid played this sexy vamp. Both the show and the books are amazing. Check them out if you haven't already.
There is one main reason Henry doesn't rank higher on my list. He doesn't get to be the hero much - at least in the show - and therefore gets his butt kicked a little too often. Because the series is focused on the heroine, Vicki Nelson, she gets to do more of the butt kicking than Henry.

I was very late in finding my new vampire obsession. I put it off for years, thinking I wouldn't enjoy it because it was based on young adult books. I like badass vamps that bite - and kill - but are still sexy. The last thing I wanted was to watch another Twilight. But one day, a few weeks ago, I gave in and started watching the previous seasons of The Vampire Diaries on Netflix. And let me say, NOW I KNOW WHAT ALL THE FUSS IS ABOUT! How on earth did I not watch this show sooner? I became obsessed quickly, devouring the first four seasons in about two and a half weeks. Now I'm caught up on the fifth - and current - season. This may have been about teens, but there was no lack of biting and killing, no sparkly vampires, and no shortage of sexy, badass characters.
Of course, I'm like a lot of other people in that there was one thing - one person, actually - that truly sucked me in. (pun intended) Yes, I am TEAM DAMON, and therefore, my new celebrity crush is... IAN SOMERHALDER. So what did I do after realizing how hot and sexy this guy is? I did what any fangirl would and checked out his online presence and watched some interviews. I'm always worried when I do this because I'm afraid I'll find out the guy is an ass in real life. But, as his other fans have already known for years, Ian is funny, flirtatious, charming, and caring. He loves his fans and never misses a chance to thank them and show that love. Not to mention his love for animals and the environment - be sure to check out the IAN SOMERHALDER FOUNDATION for more information and how you can help.
Please forgive me for not understanding sooner how amazing this show is. To make up for it, below are some sexy pics of Ian, and a couple with Nina and Paul included. Be sure to leave a comment and let me know if you are Team Damon or Team Stefan - Delena or Stelena. Of course, I'm all about Delena! Is it time for a new episode yet? I don't think I can wait.
Oh, and I wasn't sure what I would name my Dodge Challenger when I hopefully get it next year, but now I know. I already named my motorcycle for one of my vamps, Bastian, and couldn't decide what to name my car. I thought about Lestat, Mick (as in vampire Mick St. John), and the names of some of my other vamps. Now there is no question. My Challenger will be named DAMON! It will be black with chrome accents and rims, tinted windows, and a spoiler. I think this name will be perfect for it.

Ready for another great giveaway blog hop? I know I am, especially when it's vampire themed. This hop is hosted by author Felicity Heaton. See the end of this post for my giveaway and links to other blogs in this hop.
I don't know about you, but I'd love to have a vampire for my Valentine. I'm rereading Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, and I'm about a quarter of the way through The Vampire Lestat. Although Lestat was my first vampire love, Mick St. John from Moonlight quickly became my favorite, but please don't let my vamps know that. So Mick would definitely be the vamp I would choose for my Valentine.
That said, I do love my vamps. A while back, I had a chance to step into the world I created in my Nocturnal Surrender Series for a guest post on Cabin Goddess for her Fourth Wall Friday series of posts. She poses the question, "Ever wonder what happens if you were to break into your world build and sit down and have a beer with your main characters?"
When the opportunity to be on her blog came up, I jumped on it. I had a lot of fun writing this, immersing myself into the world of my characters. The following is my Fourth Wall Friday post, which was from 10/18/13 and was a teaser glimpse into the world of Night Therapy. Since I'm giving away eBook copies of this book, I thought it would be great to re-post this here to give you a little idea of what to expect in the book. Enjoy!

Therapy for the Vampire...
Slipping into a vampire-owned sanguinarian club unnoticed should be impossible—unless you’re the one who created the club and the vampires in it.
From the moment I opened the front door to Nocturnal Surrender, the hard rock music blasting its greeting, my heart sped with the anticipation of coming face-to-face with some of my vampires. It took a moment for my eyes to adjust to the low lighting. The candles, both natural and electric, shrouded the nightclub in danger and mystery. Gothic arched doorways added to the old-world feel of the place, but the crimson and black pleather-covered booths and walls spoke of this modern time.
As I slinked past the club’s patrons, some writhing on the dance floor, some in the middle of intimate, vampiric feedings, I glanced at the sign above the bar.The Nightclub with a Bite was sprawled in a dramatic font, complete with fang-like projections at the bottom. Although, it wasn’t exactly as I’d created it. Apparently Donovan Evanko, the club’s owner, had added to the sign without my knowledge. Now those fangs jutting off the letters had blood droplets dangling from them.
Instead of wondering how a character I’d created was able to change things without me, I focused on the bartender, Donovan’s brother, Bastian. He was every bit as intimidating as I had pictured him in my mind—tall and muscular, like a body builder, long blond hair that did nothing to soften his rugged appearance, and silvery vampire eyes and dagger-sharp fangs. Everything about him screamed, don’t mess with me.
With all I had put him through in his books, he had a bit of a grudge against me, so I did my best to stay out of his line of sight. Thankfully, he wasn’t the one I’d come to see.
After another sweep of the room, I spotted the vampire I was looking for. Johnathan McCombs sat in a corner booth—alone, as usual. Did he realize I was coming for him? Shouldn’t his heightened senses have let him know my attention was locked onto him? That I was almost directly beside him now?
He sat motionless, staring into his half-empty glass of beer. From the red tint in the normally-amber liquid, I could tell he’d ordered it Surrender Style, infused with blood. Sure, I didn’t have vampiric abilities to feel others’ emotions, but there was no mistaking the anger and pain radiating off him. The loneliness. My heart broke for him…but I knew something he didn’t. Someone would come into his life soon and turn it upside down. Someone who would need him and who would be there for him. Someone who would make him want to live again.
“Yeah, right. In your dreams.” Johnathan’s voice held the tell-tale rasp that let me know he was vamped out, but it didn’t make his accent any less sexy. He still hadn’t looked up from his drink. Guess he had realized I was approaching him, and he’d obviously listened to my thoughts, as well. “I may look zoned out, but don’t forget, I work for the Enforcers, and my training alerted me the minute you walked in the door. You might as well sit down. I know you won’t leave me alone until you do what you came here for.”
I slid into the opposite side of the booth. No use beating around the bush since he knew what I was up to, so I dove right in. “Johnathan, you need to get some help. You can’t keep living this way. There are people who love you, people who want to see you get over your past and be happ—”
His head shot up, his dark hair flopping about his face, and his silver glare locked onto me. He bared his fangs. “Don’t talk about my past. I’ve been trying to outrun it for nearly six hundred years.” He grabbed his glass, gulped down the rest of its contents, and slammed it back onto the table. “And don’t tell me there’s any effing way I’ll ever be happy.” His brows furrowed. “How the hell am I supposed to let go of the horrific things I’ve done.” He cringed, surely remembering those things.
I knew he wouldn’t even be at Nocturnal Surrender right now if not for the Enforcer meeting scheduled in less than half an hour. He never left his home except for Enforcer business or to replenish his blood supply. He isolated himself from everyone who cared about him and from the world in general. He’d basically given up on life. Not to the extent of wanting to die, just not wanting to live. It was a fine line, and one he needed to deal with before he fell over the edge.
“I know you can’t believe this right now, but there is hope.” I pulled a business card out of my purse and sat it in front of him. I wanted to touch his hand to comfort him, but he would only shy away from the gesture. “She’s a great psychotherapist, compassionate and non-judgmental. She can help you.”
The card was for psychologist, Stephanie Taylor, one of the best in Lansford, Pennsylvania—maybe even in the entire state. He eyed the card as if it was a bomb about to explode.
Maybe he was the one about to explode.
As I waited for him to respond, I caught a glimpse of someone strutting toward us—another silver-eyed creature, Johnathan’s sire, Alexander Mitchell. Before Alex made it to our booth, Johnathan snatched the card with vampiric speed and shoved it in his pocket. He shot me a glower that said this discussion was over, but somewhere in there, for a split second, I could have sworn I’d seen gratitude.
Since Alex was a little more couth than Johnathan, I wasn’t concerned that he’d listen to my thoughts and learn our secret. And Johnathan would certainly be blocking his thoughts from other vampires. I only wished we would have had more time to discuss him going for counseling.
When Alex stopped in front of me, he extended his hand. I placed mine in his, and he leaned over, drew my hand to his lips, and kissed it softly. Then he slid into the booth beside me. “I am so pleased to finally meet you, Lorraine. I must thank you for bringing us to life.”
Johnathan grunted. “Speak for yourself.”
Alex rested his arm behind me on the back of the booth and shifted toward me slightly. “I apologize for my offspring. His manners have been somewhat lacking lately.” Although he kept his body angled in my direction, he looked to Johnathan. “Please, show our creator a little more respect. Without her, we wouldn’t exist.”
Johnathan’s stare was full of resentment and turmoil. “Thank you, Miss All-Mighty Writer, for giving me this miserable—”
“Enough, Johnathan. Go to the meeting room. Now. I will be there shortly.” Alex’s words were sharp, but his concern for Johnathan was evident.
Johnathan grabbed his motorcycle helmet from beside him—I hadn’t even noticed it was on the seat—and scooted out of the booth, completely ignoring me and Alex.
I turned to Alex. “I promise, he’ll be okay. You have to trust me.”
“He’s a good vampire, a good man, under all that bravado. He just needs to deal with his issues, to forgive himself for what he’s done.” Alex glanced over his shoulder as Johnathan made his way through the crowded club, then he looked back to me. “And I do trust you. Just hurry, before it is too late and he is lost to us for eternity.” He grasped my hand again, placed another gentle kiss on my skin, and headed off to his meeting.
I had a plan to turn Johnathan’s life around, but he needed to do his part and call the number on that card to set up an appointment. Stephanie would take it from there. Yes, they would have to go through hell together before their lives had a chance of being turned around, but if they didn’t give up, if they fought hard enough, it would be worth it in the end.
I tried to shake the somber mood Johnathan had left me in. When the waitress finally came and took my order, I decided I needed something a little stronger than beer. After a few vodka-laced sodas, my mood had lightened and my inhibitions were faltering. It was time to have some fun in The Nightclub with a Bite.
When I stood to make my way to the dance floor, a little woozy from the alcohol, a vampire a few booths away waved me over. Christof Rosenbaum grinned seductively and winked at me. I knew exactly what he wanted—a snack and possibly some fun on the side. Since I really wanted to know what it felt like to have a sexy vampire sink his fangs into my neck, I would allow him the snack, but I wasn’t quite drunk enough for anything else. Yet…

Yet…

"I read a lot of Vampire stories I find them irresistible and I found that out of all the different series I have read this year this has been one of the best! There are some smoking hot scenes in this book that were just hot, hot, hot to read and also some very sweet scenes! These two main character bring out the best in each other and give the courage to face their inner demons. There was a good balance of action and getting to know the character personalities. I read this book in two days. I highly suggest giving this book a read if you enjoy a good vampire romance!" Emily - Goodreads reviewer.

I just wanted to do a quick post explaining why I haven't written any posts lately. No, I didn't eat myself into a coma over the holidays - surprisingly. I've been designing a new website theme. I love the current one, but I wanted something a little sexier. It may take another week or two before it's ready to go live, but here is a little sneak peek of what it will look like.
I may want to tweak the banner a little more, and obviously there is no real content on this preview page, but you get the idea. I love the color scheme. This design is far more me than what I currently have. I have spent a lot of time learning CSS to make this unique rather than a cookie-cutter theme anyone might have. I hope everyone loves it as much as I do.
Please leave a comment and let me know what you think of this new design!

Stephanie shivered as she sucked in Johnathan’s blood. It tasted so sweet, brought her so much closer to him. And feeling his emotions only made the moment more intimate.
She moaned as she bit into his throat repeatedly. When he groaned, a wave of his desire crashed into her. Her core ached, pulsating from the need to have him inside her.
Unsure how much she could safely drink, she eased her fangs out of his throat and lapped the remaining drops of blood as his wounds healed.
She looked up at him and licked her lips. “I love how you taste. Is my blood that good?”
“Oh, baby, you have no idea.” He grinned. “Can I have a little?”
The rasp in his voice vibrated her chest. She nodded, and he swept her hair off her shoulder. His fingertips slithered along her neck, and a shiver crawled up her spine. She clutched his muscular arms as his mouth closed in on her throat.
He continued strumming her skin with his fingers, and then his lips did the same. Slowly, the kisses deepened until his fangs scraped her sensitive flesh. The slight sting filled her with pleasure. He pulled her closer and held her so tight she wanted to melt into him. His cock pressed against her as he bit into her neck.
She wrapped her arms around him with all her newly-acquired strength. A tingling sensation swept through her when he sucked in her blood. Her head spun from their shared arousal. She ground herself against him, and her core thrummed with longing.
He backed her into the wall, groaning as he drank. She stood on her toes while he dipped slightly so his cock hit the right spot. When he released her neck, a brief burning sensation prickled her skin where his fangs had penetrated—no doubt the wounds healing.
At that moment, it finally sank in that she was no longer human. That she was…immortal.
The world is mine.
He is mine.
It was time to have some fun.
She spun their entwined bodies around, pinned him to the wall, grabbed his face, and kissed him so hard her fangs pierced his lip. He grunted and cupped her ass, pulling her to him repeatedly. Grinding into her.
As she sucked on his lip, gathering every last drop of blood, she yanked his shirt out of his pants and ran her hands along those hard abs she’d been dying to touch.
His desire coursed through her like her own, multiplying hers, driving her crazy. She kissed him with total abandon. Ground her needy clit against him. Slipped her hand inside the tight confines of his jeans and grabbed what she wanted. He jerked and moaned from her touch.
Apparently her inhibitions had disappeared with her mortality.
Who wouldn’t want to feel like this?
Goosebumps rose over her entire body as she reveled in her new life. In what it all meant.
In her power.
Unable to endure any more, she pulled away from his mouth and yanked her hand out of his jeans. “Take me upstairs. Now.”
Johnathan cradled her face. “You know I wouldn’t let anyone else talk to me like that.” He kissed her defiantly. “But damn, did that turn me on even more.”
He eased their bodies away from the wall and reached down to lift her. She clamped her legs around his waist and kissed his neck as he carried her to the bedroom.
Though no lights were on inside his room, she could see perfectly. As soon as he laid her on the bed and crawled on top of her, she stripped off his shirt and tossed it aside. She seized the opportunity to unbutton and unzip his jeans while he loomed above her on his hands and knees. Before she could slip a hand inside, he clasped her wrists and forced them above her head.
“Let’s get one thing straight here. I am far older and far stronger than you.” He eased his body down and ground his hard cock into her. “And I am going to make love to you first. Then you can take charge if you want, but only when I’m through showing you what pleasure really is.”
Smug asshole. “Someone sure is full of himself.”
“It’s not that.” He leaned down and kissed her softly. “Think about it. Heightened senses combined with feeling each other’s emotions. This will be the best you’ve ever had for those reasons alone.”
Still sounds smug. She wriggled beneath him and raised her hips to grind against him, hoping to make some of his control slip.
“You are feisty. Alex was right about you.” He held her wrists in one hand with a vice-like grip while his other hand claimed one of her breasts. “You acted all sweet and innocent in your office, but something tells me there’s a side of you I’m really going to enjoy getting to know. Maybe even a side that’s a little like my bad side.”
Sure she was no match for his strength, but she couldn’t let a statement like that go. She clamped her legs around him and pulled him tight against her, trapping his hand between them. Maybe it only worked because she had caught him off guard, or maybe he had simply allowed it, but either way, she enjoyed her small victory.
“That might be a side of me you don’t want to know.” She raised her head and bit his lip.
What’s gotten into me? It was as if all the emotions she’d kept locked inside for years were exploding out of her.
And she liked it.
“Fuck, Steph. Do you have any idea what you’re doing to me?”
Actually, she did. She felt it deep inside. His arousal had grown exponentially.
She pushed up into him one more time, trying to ease her growing desire. “Yes, Johnathan, I do. And it’s your own fault for not letting me take you. You’d be inside me, fucking me right now.”
She lashed out to bite him again, but this time, he must have seen it coming. He jerked his head away, and she chomped down on nothing but air.
“Prick.” Oops. She hadn’t meant to say that out loud. If her hands weren’t on lockdown, she would have covered her mouth.
“Guess you’ve gotten to know the real me. Do you still want me?” He squeezed her breast and pinched her nipple.
Shockwaves tore through her body, coming to rest in her core, which throbbed incessantly. She moaned. Damn these heightened senses.

Nocturnal Bites Giveaway...
BLURB
This anthology contains the first three novelettes/novellas of the series. Each of these books focuses on vampire Bastian Evanko, starting over two hundred years ago in England with Nothing Lasts Forever and the tragic series of events that triggers his desire for retribution and earns him the punishment of two hundred years in exile.
Fast forward to present day Lansford, PA: The Sin City of the East. The remaining stories take place in and around Lansford. Nocturnal Surrender is the reunion of Bastian and his brother Donovan, as well as his meeting—and biting—stripper Darling Nikki. Tension mounts as Bastian looks to exact his revenge, but he gets a little sidetracked by the possibility of falling in love again.
Just when Bastian feels secure in his budding relationship with Nicole French, AKA Darling Nikki, she stumbles upon the secret of his vampiric identity in Midnight Confessions. To make matters worse, Donovan needs Bastian's help in the war with the vampire Hunters. Only problem is, Nicole gets dragged into the mix. Many secrets are exposed after midnight.
In the bonus short story, Auburn Lust, twin courtesan vampires Rochelle and Laureline Montague entertain two of their favorite vampire clients for the evening: Christof Rosenbaum and Donovan Evanko. Emotions and lust run wild in this erotic story.
And in another bonus, Interview with Bastian, the vampire lets it all hang out since this is the uncensored, extended version of his interview. At times he shares a little too much information, but then he does prefer to live by his own rules.

Night Therapy...
BLURB
Vampire Johnathan McCombs has spent the last century isolating from humanity whenever possible, trying to come to terms with a past that haunts him. When he finally realizes he needs help dealing with his issues, he seeks out a mortal psychologist, hoping her ethical boundaries of confidentiality will allow him to reveal his secrets. He tries to ignore his growing attraction for his therapist, but when circumstances throw them together outside the professional setting of her office, will he be able to contain his passion?
Psychologist Stephanie Taylor connects with her clients because personal experience has made her understand what heartache and trauma do to a person. But when her hot new client drops the bomb on her that he is a vampire, she has no idea what to do or how to react. Now she must look at her life in a whole new light. She has inadvertently put her life in danger and become part of a dark world she thought was only pretend.
In one night, everything changes. Old rivals pull Stephanie into their fight, and Johnathan must make a life or death decision. But can Stephanie forgive him for the irreversible choice he makes with her life? Can the couple find peace with their individual problems to have a chance at a lasting relationship? And how will the brewing war between vampires and Hunters affect them?
NAUGHTY EXCERPT
With the scent of his spicy cologne, his strong hand cradling hers, and his muscular body so close, longing flared to life deep in her core. He was too damn sexy for her own good.
A slight smile curved his lips as his features softened. When he slid his hand up her arm, she instinctively angled her body toward his, their knees almost touching. His fingertips teased her skin, and a shiver raced over her. She didn’t care if he sensed what he did to her, how her body automatically reacted to his presence, his caress.
As his hand glided higher, his smile grew wider. Gently, he continued on until his palm cradled her cheek. She leaned into his touch, and every inch of her body reacted. A tingling sensation swept over her, demanding she ignore the nagging voice in her head telling her this was wrong.
She needed this.
When his hand slid behind her head, his fingers threading tantalizingly through her hair, she shuddered.
She wanted him.
A glance down at his tight shirt reminded her of the hard definition of his abs. Lower and…the distracting bulge was now much larger.
This wasn’t good. Well, no, it was actually too good. But it was…
What was the reason she shouldn’t do this? Lucid thoughts were fleeting, her body alive for the first time in years.
He inched closer, and their legs rubbed together. Such simple contact, but the friction was electrifying. Every nerve ending in her body responded with an overwhelming ache to feel the same. To have him next to her. Nothing between them. Not even the air.
“Stephanie, you need to say if you want me to stop.” His deep rasp combined with that accent made her heart skip a beat.
She looked up, realizing how long her gaze had lingered lower. Heat spread into her cheeks. Her face had surely flushed.
His eyes were silver. No more blue. “This is what I am.” As if to drive home the point, he opened his mouth to reveal his fangs. “I can’t hide it with the way you make me feel. With what I’m feeling from you.”
What would it be like to have his fangs--
No. She’d been used by a vampire before. She wouldn’t let it happen twice.
Numbness overtook her again. Her heart closed off, back into its safety zone. The walls she’d built over the years to protect herself slammed into place.
She jumped up and out of Johnathan’s grasp. “I need to get some sleep. You should go now.”
He sat there looking confused, and a little hurt. But she had to be strong. She couldn’t let it affect her.
Rubbing his hands over his jeans, he leaned forward and let out what sounded like a growl.
Great, piss off another vampire. I’m really making friends tonight.
In a flash, he stood and moved to within an inch of her. Towering over her. Before she knew it, her back was against the house, his body pressed to hers. Strong hands gripped her hips as he ground his erection into her belly.
Once more, her body reacted of its own accord, and her walls crashed down around her. She stood on her toes to feel his erection exactly where she wanted it.
A moan escaped her lips. This shouldn’t be happening. She grabbed his arms with every intention of removing them, but his muscles flexed under her fingers. There was no hope of making him do anything he didn’t choose.
Instead of trying to move him, her hands crept upward until they rested on his biceps. Rock hard, like his cock.
As if on cue, he pressed into her again. This time, she was certain he growled.
Stephanie arched into him, gripping his arms with all her strength. His hands slipped around to cup her ass, pulling her in tighter—as if it were possible.
Another moan and they fell into a sensual cadence. Slow, yet forceful. Thrust after thrust. Deep inside, her muscles clenched with need.
Johnathan licked his lips and exposed his fangs as his mouth closed in on hers. Her eyes locked with his, and she moved her arms to encircle his neck and pull him to her.
But this wasn’t right. She could lose her license for--
The heat of his mouth devoured hers as his tongue plunged deep. And she allowed it, even returned his affections. She had denied herself for too long. Kept men at a distance after all she’d been through. But she couldn’t take the loneliness any more.
With Johnathan so close, so warm and strong, she had no choice but to give in to her need. His masculine scent, his overwhelming presence. She lost herself in all of it, in all of him.
His demanding kiss, along with the rhythm of his hips, left her dizzy and shaky. The feel of his fangs on her lips made her gasp. Sharp and dangerous. Grazing her tender skin. Stinging.
Is that blood I taste?
He reached down and drew her leg up, opening her to him. Their thrusts grew more frantic and helped her ignore the pain at her lips. And the blood in her mouth.
His tongue swept in and out. Writhing, she rubbed herself against his erection. Wished their clothes were off and that he was inside her.
Grabbing a handful of his hair, she held on as her body trembled. Ripples of pleasure cascaded over her, rhythmic spasms tearing through her core. She whimpered into his mouth. Clutched him tighter. Ground into him deeper.
As he pushed into her, his body quaked in her arms. An animalistic groan rumbled out of him. His thrusts became erratic, almost convulsive. He broke away from their kiss, throwing his head back, and shoved his body against hers until his climax was over.
Then he kissed her again, soft and gentle. He released her leg and slid his hands up her back. She shuddered. His tongue played along her lips, causing a quick burning sensation. Flinching, she pulled away and snapped back to reality.
“I’m sorry. I was only healing you. Our saliva burns a little as it heals the puncture wounds.” Johnathan’s voice had lost the rasp.
She was unable to look at him. How could she have let this happen? It went against everything she’d been taught. Everything she believed in. The rules were there to keep clients safe. They were vulnerable with their therapists. Too many personal details shared. She knew better. But she had allowed her loneliness and need to control her.
His fingers tugged at her chin, urging her to face him. “Talk to me, Stephanie. What’s wrong?” His eyes were blue again, though glowing. Haunting.
“I…I can’t believe I let this happen.” Lowering her gaze, she shook her head. “It’s wrong.”
She had committed the worst act imaginable with a client. She’d allowed her issues and needs to come first and had been sexually intimate with him. It didn’t matter that their clothes were still on. An orgasm was an orgasm. There was no way around it.
I’m an awful person.
He stroked her cheek with his thumb. “In case you didn’t notice, I was the one who started this. I never expected it to go as far as it did, but I’m not sorry. It’s been decades since I let anyone in. I needed this.”
“That’s the problem. You let me in as your therapist. It makes you feel closer to me than you are. That’s why we aren’t allowed to get involved with clients. What you’re feeling…it isn’t what you think it is.”
“And just exactly what do I think it is?”
“I don’t know. A connection. Trust in someone. Being open and vulnerable. And yes, those are probably all there, but not for the reasons that should have led to what we just did. They’re there because you’re supposed to feel safe and supported with me. That’s my job. But it’s not a personal connection. It’s not—”
A blazing kiss scorched her lips, and she let out a soft moan into his mouth.
Then he pulled away. “No, it’s not personal at all. I suppose you react like that with all your clients.”
Smug asshole. “Stop it. We can’t keep doing this. I—”
Another kiss. He grabbed her, holding her tightly, his strong arms wrapped around her like a security blanket. Warmth and comfort spread through her as if she belonged in those arms. She melted into him, into the desperation of his embrace. The hunger of his kiss.

Night Therapy exclusive excerpt...
Christof’s penthouse was only a few blocks from the club, but a good half hour from Alex’s country home. By the time they arrived, Johnathan’s hands were trembling. He ripped off his helmet and tossed it on the ground in the parking garage. Alex wasted precious time picking it up and placing it in his car.
When Alex caught up with him, Johnathan pounded the button for the elevator repeatedly, tapping his foot and fidgeting. “Why the hell can’t these things move any faster? It’d be quicker to use the stairs.”
Alex rested a hand on his shoulder. “Johnathan, look at me. She’s okay.”
“You don’t know that. I should have had you call him back to be sure.” The elevator finally opened, and Johnathan stepped inside then continued his attack on the buttons. “What the hell was she doing there anyway? And what did he mean about her looking for trouble?”
“We’ll know soon.”
The second the elevator doors opened, Johnathan bolted down the hall to Christof’s door. He burst into the penthouse without knocking. “Stephanie?”
“Well, hello to you, too. Now be quiet, she’s in bed.” Christof had a smug look on his face.
Johnathan strode toward Christof, knowing the elder vampire’s proclivity for using the club’s mortal patrons to fulfill all his needs. “You better not have—”
“Alex, get him under control. I only gave her the suggestion she needed some rest.”
Alex snatched Johnathan from behind just as he was about to grab the lapels of the designer suit the pompous bastard wore. “Stop this. Christof is like family, not some rogue we need take out.”
Christof smirked. “So this is the thanks I get for protecting her? Remind me not to do you any more favors.”
Johnathan glared at Christof, shrugged out of Alex’s grasp, and eased himself onto the plush recliner. “I’m fine. I won’t do anything. But I’m not happy that he fucked with her mind. I want to know what happened.”
“And you will, starting now.” Alex sat across from Christof, giving him a scowl Johnathan knew all too well.
His sire would get answers.
Johnathan couldn’t remain seated with worry gnawing at his brain. He shot up and paced as he listened to Christof explain what he walked in on at the nightclub.
“Wait a minute. You make it sound like you knew her before tonight.” Johnathan remembered Stephanie’s discomfort when he asked her why she wrote vampire novels. Had she been so fascinated by their kind that she would let herself be someone’s—Christof’s—meal?
Christof shifted, avoiding Johnathan’s glower. “I think that’s something you should take up with her.”
Johnathan lunged at Christof, but he was too young to match the older vamp’s speed. He only ended up toppling the oversized sofa and crashing into the baby grand piano behind it. Wood splintered and keys hammered an unmelodious racket.
Before he knew what was happening, Christof yanked him to his feet, eyes molten silver, fangs extended. “Do not think that just because you are Alex’s offspring I will hold back if you continue to disrespect me and my home. You would be drained by now if you were anyone else.”
Christof slammed Johnathan into the marble floor. His head bounced and pain shot through him. The marble cracked from the impact.
But the next sound was Stephanie’s beautiful voice. “Johnathan, are you okay?”
She knelt beside him, glancing from him to Christof then to Alex and back again. He hadn’t realized how much she meant to him before tonight—or maybe it was because of tonight. Because he’d finally allowed someone in. To know what he truly was.
He sat up and a stab of pain made him wince. He touched the back of his head only to pull away and see blood on his fingers. “Fucking bastard.”
Christof rolled his eyes. “Don’t whine like a baby. Your head’s probably already healed, but my living room is going to need some TLC. And you will pay the bill.”
“Yeah, why don’t you send it to me? Too bad I don’t need to shit anymore or I’d use it to wipe my ass.”
Alex stepped closer and extended his hand to Stephanie. “Miss Taylor, please allow me to apologize for these two. They’ve never been able to play well together. I’m Alexander Mitchell, Johnathan’s sire.”
She rose, clearly shaken, and slowly reached for Alex’s hand. “You can call me Stephanie. Nice to meet you… I think.”
Alex laughed. “I can see how you might question it, but I assure you, despite appearances, we’re not bad people. Oh, and you can call me Alex.”
“I…I’ll take your word for it.”
Johnathan stood, the pain subsiding. “Alex is speaking for me and himself, not the prick over there.”
“Get him the hell out of my home. I’ve had enough of this.” Christof crossed to Stephanie, clasped her hand, raised it to his lips, and kissed it. “I look forward to seeing you again, my dear. You know where to find me whenever you desire.” He glanced at Johnathan then turned back to Stephanie. “As you did tonight.”
Johnathan vamped out, preparing for a full-on attack, but Alex jumped between him and the pompous ass.
“Christof, must you antagonize him?” Alex held Johnathan firm.
Christof merely laughed and waved his hand dismissively.
Alex shoved Johnathan toward the door. “Come on. We’re getting out of here before the two of you scare Stephanie again.”
NIGHT THERAPY BLURB

In honor of the release of Night Therapy, and this blog hop, I wanted to share this character interview I did with the hero in the book, Johnathan McCombs. Get ready for some Hot-Halloween-Hero vampire attitude and sexiness...

Johnathan strutted into my office with his usual rock-star swagger, his raven hair slightly disheveled from the motorcycle helmet in his hand. Too bad he had those damn sunglasses on—again—because I really wanted to see his preternaturally-bright blue eyes.
His vampire swiftness kicked in, and he moved toward me in a blur. Before I could comprehend what had happened, he stood beside me. It took a moment for me to notice he’d dropped his helmet on the sofa at some point. With his impressive muscular frame mere inches from me, he placed one hand on the back of my chair and leaned in to lay the other on my desk.
He stared at my computer screen. “You have got to be kidding. Seriously? Is that really what you’re going to call this interview?”
His slight Australian accent was sexy and seductive, but I quickly remembered I had a vampire breathing down my neck. Chills ran up my spine, a wave of fear mixed with odd excitement. I wanted to tell him to back the fuck off, but then again, he was hot as hell. I should know, I wrote him that way.
“Why? What’s wrong with it? I thought it was kind of cute.”
Easing off his sunglasses, he turned to glare at me, eye-to-eye, and hovered a little too close for comfort. “Cute? Do I look like I should be associated with something cute?”
In truth, he looked like he should be associated with something Gothic, dressed in black from head to toe. The only things missing were the eyeliner, piercings, and tattoos. Don’t ask me why I never gave him those. I guess they didn’t fit his personality.
But I wasn’t about to let a character I created intimidate me. After all, I was the one in control here, wasn’t I? “Why don’t you let me worry about the writing side of this, including the title of the interview, and you go sit down over there? You know, on the other side of my desk. Where you belong.”
The incredulous look on his face said I might have crossed the line. “There is no one else in this world who could get away with telling me what to do. You’ve got balls.”
Then, laughing, he…did as I had told him.
“Good. Maybe we can start this interview now.” Time to placate his ego a bit. “Would that be okay with you?”
I tried to sound as sincere as possible, especially since it would have been easy for him to take what I’d said sarcastically. This interview would go nowhere if I pissed him off before we even started.
He nodded. “I’m ready whenever you are.”
Good vampire. That’s more like it.

Lorraine: So, Johnathan, what do you think about having a major part of your life played out in a book for the entire world to see?
Leaning back in the chair, he propped his booted feet up on my desk and cocked his head to the side.
Johnathan: What do you think? How would you like your life to be in the pages of a book?
Lorraine: I’m really an open book, anyway, so…
His mouth opened, undoubtedly to point out the pun in what I’d said, since I’m an author, but I held up my hand before he spoke.
Lorraine: Zip it. I know. Bad pun. But this interview isn’t about me, it’s about you. Now, back to the questions. You obviously don’t seem too happy at the prospect of this book, but you have to at least be looking forward to meeting Stephanie, right?
With a roll of his eyes, he sighed.
Johnathan: In case you hadn’t noticed, I’m a loner, and I don’t do well with people. Now you want me to open up to some therapist about my issues and fall madly in love. You’re off your rocker.
Lorraine: Okay, I see your point, but--
Johnathan: Don’t think I don’t know how these romance novels go. You’re going to put us through all kinds of hell before we get our happily ever after. Well, newsflash, all-powerful writer, we are real people, with actual feelings. What makes you think it’s okay to do that shit to us? Besides, there’s no happily ever after waiting for me, so you can shove it up your ass.
I sat back in my chair, stunned, and feeling a little guilty. Then a rush of anger rolled over me. My pulse raced and a flush of heat ran through my body.
Lorraine: Wait a minute. You are not real people. You are characters I created. And I have to make the stories interesting and emotionally riveting for the readers, so live with it. No, actually, don’t live with it since you’re not really alive.
Was I truly having an argument with a character from my book? Maybe I was the one who needed therapy.
Taking a deep breath, I unclenched my fists—that I hadn’t realized were clenched until my nails dug into flesh—and continued.
Lorraine: Okay, I see what you’re doing here, and it’s not going to work. I don’t care how pissy you act. I’m not ending this interview and tossing you out of my office.
Johnathan’s condescending laugh cut through me, and the flash of silver that flitted across his eyes scared the hell out of me. The last thing I wanted was to make a vampire lose control. I was pretty sure he only did it to remind me of his power and strength, and the fact that I couldn’t toss him anywhere, but I didn’t want to take the chance--
Johnathan: Too bad. I wouldn’t mind seeing what happened if you tried. It’s been too long since I’ve fed fresh. I’m aching for a reason to do it.
And just like that, he shifted into full-on vamp mode. Eyes silver, fangs extended. He made sure I didn’t miss the latter, parting his lips enough to show off those daggers. My heart raced faster than before.
Johnathan: I can smell your fear. It’s sweeter than you can imagine. The vampire in me loves it, wants to cause more of it, but the man in me…
He lowered his head and scrubbed a hand over his face.
A few more deep breaths for me.
How the hell could this interview have gone bad so fast? Oh yeah, that’s right. All my characters had minds of their own. No matter how much I tried to rein them in, they always did whatever they damn well pleased. Maybe they were more real than I gave them credit for.
Lorraine: Look, Johnathan, why don’t we start over? I’m sorry for not respecting you as a person. You were right. Come on, we’ll be going through a lot together. We need to get along.
It took a few moments, but Johnathan finally looked up, his eyes back to normal—well, almost. Instead of the usual cold and distant stare, there was a look of pain in them.
Johnathan: I’m sorry, too. It’s just… I’ve been a wreck lately. I don’t know what’s going on with me.
Lorraine: That’s exactly why I’m giving you Stephanie. The two of you need each other.
Johnathan: I’m no good to anyone, especially a mortal. If she needs someone, you’d better look elsewhere.
Lorraine: Nope. Can’t do that. You have to trust me on this. She needs you. Only you.
Johnathan: If that’s the case then you’ve really got your work cut out for you. I don’t see how it’s possible. If you can get me to open up and fall in love, I’ll… Well, it doesn’t matter because it’s not going to happen.
I could tell a glimmer of hope had crossed his mind as his eyes lit up momentarily, but he shot it down quickly. The pain was gone, but a stone-cold glare replaced it. His face was expressionless. He’d gone back into his shell. Probably best not to push him any further.
Lorraine: Maybe we should call it a night. We can pick this up later, after you’ve gotten to know Stephanie a little.
With a slight smile, he nodded, then stood and reached for my hand. He bent over, raised the hand I offered to his full lips, and kissed it softly before leaving. The gentleman in him had finally come out.

After nine chapters into Night Therapy...
Johnathan burst into my office, moved around my desk in a blur, and was beside me before his helmet landed on the sofa. “This is fucked up. I can’t believe what you’ve done to us. To Stephanie. What you made me do. Do you have any fucking idea what havoc you’ve wreaked on our lives?” The rasp in his voice let me know the vampire in him had been freed.
I tentatively looked up to see molten-silver eyes and sharp fangs. A cold chill washed over me. My body tensed, fearing what might happen next, bracing for…anything. The lump in my throat made it impossible to speak.
I’d never seen him this angry—not even when he fought with Christof.
Yanking my chair so I faced him, he leaned down, one hand on each armrest, and trapped me there. Fierce intensity glinted in his eyes. “How could you? She was my world. You give me this…this…hope, and then you snatch it away from me. And you have the audacity to make it be by my own hand. I should tear your throat to shreds. No, better yet, I should rip your heart out like you did mine.”
As my body betrayed me with fear, and I cowered in my chair, the logical part of me wanted to tell the arrogant bastard that I created him and I could take him out just as easily. In my mind, I saw myself lifting my leg with all the force I could muster, dropping him with the one blow I knew would hurt a vampire as much as it would a mortal man. Then, I would stand and drive my four inch heal straight into his heart, incapacitating him long enough for me to get away.
Of course, knowing what I’d just put him through in the pages of his book meant he would then have been staked twice in a few days’ time. He would be even more pissed at me afterward, and the logical part of my brain also reminded me this man could literally do the things he’d threatened to. If not now, then any time after he pulled the makeshift stake out of his chest. I couldn’t outrun him forever.
“Smart woman. If I were you, I wouldn’t try it either. Especially since I can read your mind and see it coming before you can act. Oh, and by the way, you may be able to get rid of me with a few keystrokes, but I can take you out before you turn your head back to that damn computer.” To emphasize his point, he moved to my neck so quickly I hadn’t even seen it happen. One second he stared at me, the next…
He was breathing down my neck again, just as he’d done the last time he was in my office. Only this time, I really was in danger. When I felt his fangs graze my skin, I flinched, trying to get away, but had nowhere to go. His breath was warm, and his teeth were sharp. If I moved, I could end up slicing open my own flesh on those daggers. My heart skipped a beat as he pressed them in ever so slightly.
Had this been under other circumstances, I’d guarantee I would have been getting hot and bothered. But as it was, I had no idea if my life was about to end or not.
A small window of lucidity hit. “If you kill me, then what happens to you? You’ll either die on the page or be stuck in this limbo for eternity. Is that what you want?”
Shifting backward, he glared at me. “If I died, I would be fine with that.” Then he paused, as if contemplating the rest of my statement. “But to be stuck at this time of my life would be a living hell.” Another few seconds of silence. “You might have just saved your own miserable hide, Miss Almighty Writer, but…I can’t let you off easy for what you’ve put us through. There will be hell to pay. Mark my words.”
With that, he bolted out of my office, leaving my head spinning. I knew he’d return for me but had no idea what kind of hell he planned on putting me through. If it was anything close to what I’d done to him—and still planned to do—there was a good chance I wouldn’t survive to write the next book.

A steamy excerpt from my upcoming novel, Night Therapy...
Warning: excerpt for adults only!
Johnathan’s fingers threaded through Stephanie’s hair as his body engulfed hers. It was as if he surrounded her. So warm and tender. Relaxed and soft, yet hard in all the right places.
He kissed her deeper, and every inch of her body vibrated with longing to feel his naked skin against hers.
She ran her nails up his back, along his rippling muscles, and he groaned into her mouth. Their fangs clashed when he shifted from her tickling him. She bit back a laugh and skimmed her hands upward until she grasped his hair.
Finally, his hands roamed south, paying her back by tickling her sides when he eased her shirt up. As his fingertips teased her bare flesh, tingling heat rushed over her. She lifted her hips, rubbing against his erection. Her fingers twitched in his hair, and she wished she could grab his cock and stroke it.
Johnathan grunted and pulled away. “Damn it, Steph. How do you expect me to hold back when you think things like that?”
She felt bad for him, but it served him right for constantly listening to her thoughts.
That issue would have to be addressed. Later.
Grinning, she ran her hands over his pecs, but her ministrations were cut short when he finished removing her shirt—capturing her hands in it. He wrapped the material tightly and pinned her arms above her head, immobilizing them with one of his.
Part of her was glad his strength was greater than hers, and that part hummed with need again when he ground his cock against her.
“This will teach you.” He leaned down and sucked at her nipple.
She’d been excited to not need a bra since her body had firmed and tightened in all the right places after being turned. He took full advantage of the situation.
Immortality had its benefits.
He released her nipple with a groan. “Seriously, Steph? You’re doing it again.”
“Doing what?”
“I’m trying to seduce you, and your mind is wandering off.” He sighed. “I’ll never understand how women can do that.”
She couldn’t stifle a giggle. “Does it hurt your male ego?”
“That’s it. You asked for it. You’ve been asking for it. I’m through playing nice.”
About damn time.
Stephanie truly did have sympathy for him. She couldn’t keep up with her own changing emotions and desires so how could he? But it wasn’t her fault the new condition of her body fascinated her at times and controlled her at others.
Still holding her arms over her head with one hand, his free hand roamed lower until he teased her skin just above the waistline of her jean leggings. After easing inside the stretchy material, and then her panties, he walked his fingers along her needy flesh, dipping one then two fingertips inside. The soft strokes only made her longing grow. She arched into his touch, but he stopped his maddening motion.
“No. You had your chance. Now I’m going to make you pay.” He pulled his hand from her pants and licked his fingers then plunged them back inside the fabric and palmed her entire pussy. “Mine,” was all he growled before his fingers shot inside her.
The abrupt invasion sent a jolt of pleasure through her. He wiggled his fingers, causing another round of need to course through her veins. If he would only move them a little more. In and out. Something. But he held back, and what she found in his mind let her know it was intentional.
He was so damn sexy when that other side of him took over. Dominating, but somehow vulnerable and sweet. It made no sense that he could be such a dichotomy. Then again, she was now, too.
Apparently he wasn’t happy with her mind wandering off again because he hissed her name and thrust his fingers in and out with a speed she had never imagined possible. With a vampire like Johnathan, she wouldn’t need batteries ever again. His fingers vibrated in her core and coherent thoughts fled.
She might have cried out or moaned, but as her eyelids fluttered open and closed, she couldn’t comprehend anything except the electric sensations shooting through her body.
His thumb massaged her clit relentlessly, pulsating at times. Just as the muscles in her core greedily clamped down, he yanked his hand free and licked his fingers once more.
Short pants leapt from her mouth. She was right on the verge of orgasm…and he left her there, writhing in need.
Cruel bastard.
“Johnathan.” His name came out desperate and breathy.
The huge grin that lit up his face said it all. And she felt the smug satisfaction pouring off him. She had to learn how to shut down her ability to feel his emotions now that she’d learned to turn it on with ease.
One day she would pay him back for what he’d just done, and for the joy he took from it.
He licked his lips. “Mmmm. I hope you do.”

SAVE A HORSE, RIDE A VAMPIRE!
I'm excited to be over on Kriss Morton's Cabin Goddess website for a Fourth-Wall Friday post. If you're not familiar with this concept, here is how Kriss puts it on her site:
Ever wonder what happens if you were to break into your world build and sit down and have a beer with...?
I loved the concept and couldn't wait to "break into" the world I built in The Nocturnal Surrender Series. Yes, I've done character interviews before, but this was different. For this post, I basically became part of the story rather than the interviewer. I chose to meet some of my vampires in the sanguinarian nightclub I created, Nocturnal Surrender. It was strange yet fun to pretend I was actually a character in my series.
Of course, this post is not only meant to promote my series, but also, my soon-to-be-released novel, Night Therapy. Just look at that sexy vampire on the cover. Hard to believe a hottie like him would need therapy, but if you head over and check out my post on Kriss's site, you'll see for yourself that Johnathan needs a little Night Therapy. Don't forget to comment on the post to let me know how you liked it.

Ride a Vampire!
Yes, believe it or not, I agreed to do an interview on KATIE SALIDAS' BLOG. Don't ask me how she talked me into it since I hate doing interviews. I never know how to answer the questions so it's easier to just avoid them entirely.
But with the upcoming release of the first full novel in The Nocturnal Surrender Series, Night Therapy, I figured it was time to pop my cherry and no longer be an interview virgin. Somehow, it was just as awkwardly pleasant as that other first time.
After you check out MY POST ON KATIE'S BLOG, be sure to leave a comment over there for me. We all need a little reassurance now and then. And when you're done, come back here and download your Night Therapy release desktop wallpaper and memes on my EXTRAS PAGE.
If you want to learn about some other great authors and see some of my previous posts on other sites, go to my LINKS PAGE.
Don't forget, Night Therapy will be out on 10/28/13.

I'd like to welcome author Katie Salidas to my blog. Thanks for coming over and telling us a little more about your vampires. Take it away, Katie...
Vampires can often be more human than you think.
Why I write about Vampires
We all have our niche. Our thing we really like to write about. It may be broad and encompass an entire genre. Some people like to explore the depths of high fantasy and create whole new worlds. Others may take a different approach and focus on a specific type of creature. I fall into the latter group. I find vampires fascinating. In fact every story I’ve written has included those creatures of the night in one way or another.
Vampires are the most chameleonic of all the supernatural creatures. They can be anything from the dangerous predator stalking you in the night to the sexy bad boy you wish would take a nibble at your neck, and everything in between.
So, what kind of vampire did I choose to write? The human kind.
In the Immortalis series, I took the vampire and gave them back some of their humanity. In fact you might find them to be the most human of all the supernatural creatures, often having the capability of being more caring and compassionate than the humans you’ll meet in this series.
Rather than make them simple bloodthirsty monsters, I wanted them to rise above it. I wanted them to deal with their very real need for blood (yes they do have to kill to survive), but not let it make them a slave to their cravings. Alyssa, the main character for example chooses to hunt criminals (rapists being her favorite midnight snack). While she feeds as often as she needs, she still manages to maintain a real friendship with her human friend Fallon. Beyond the blood lust, my vampires are capable of very strong emotions. Love being quite intense. It’s that intense love and connection that Alyssa (the main character) feels for her mate that is central to the story.
Writing about vampires and making them my own is both fun and fulfilling. I can live the fantasy as well as shape it. It’s the best of both worlds. The biggest payoff though, is seeing others fall in love with my vampires as much as I have.
If you care to read more, why not sample a chapter or two on my website.

The Immortalis Series:
Becoming a vampire is easy. Living with the condition... that's the hard part. Join Alyssa as she stumbles through the world of the "Unnatural."
Book 1: Immortalis Carpe Noctem - Newbie vampire Alyssa never asked for this life, but now it's all she has. Rescued from death by Lysander, the aloof and sexy leader of the Peregrinus vampire clan, she's barely cut her teeth before she becomes a target. Kallisto, an ancient and vindictive vampire queen – and Lysander's old mate - wants nothing less than final death for her former lover and his new toy. She's not above letting the Acta Sanctorum, and its greatest vampire hunter, Santino, know exactly where the clan can be found. With no time to mourn her old life, Alyssa's survival depends on her new family. She will have to stand alongside Lysander and fight against two enemies who will stop at nothing to destroy them.
Book 1 is always FREE in eBook! It's a great way to try the series.
Book 2: Hunters & Prey - Rule number one: humans and vampires don't co-exist. One is the hunter and one is the prey. Simple, right? Not for newly-turned vampire Alyssa. A surprise confrontation with Santino Vitale, the Acta Sanctorum's most fearsome hunter, sends her fleeing back to the world she once knew, and Fallon, the human friend she's missed more than anything. Now she has some explaining to do. However, that will have to wait. With the Acta Sanctorum hot on their heels, staying alive is more important than educating a human on the finer points of bloodlust.
Book 3: Pandora's Box - After a few months as a vampire, Alyssa thought she'd learned all she needed to know about the supernatural world. But her confidence is shattered by the delivery of a mysterious package - a Pandora's Box. Seemingly innocuous, the box is in reality an ancient prison, generated by a magic more powerful than anyone in her clan has ever known. But what manner of evil could need such force to contain it? When the box is opened, the sinister creature within is released, and only supernatural blood will satiate its thirst. The clan soon learns how it feels when the hunter becomes the hunted.
Book 4: Soulstone - It’s a desperate time for rookie vampire Alyssa, and her sanity is hanging by a slender thread. Her clan is still reeling from the monumental battle with Aniketos; a battle that claimed the body of Lysander, her sire and lover, and trapped his spirit in a mysterious crystal. A Soulstone. Unfortunately, no amount of magic has been able to release Lysander’s spirit, and the stone is starting to fade. Weeks of effort have proved futile. Her clan, the Peregrinus, have all but given up hope. Only Alyssa still believes her lover can be released. In despair, Alyssa begs the help of the local witch coven, and unwittingly exposes the supernaturals of Boston to unwanted attention from the Acta Sanctorum. The Saints converge on the city and begin their cleansing crusade to rid the world of all things “Unnatural.” In the middle of an all-out war, but no closer to a solution to the dying stone, Alyssa is left with an unenviable choice: save her mate, or save her clan.
Book 5: Moonlight - Good girls don’t wear fur, or fight over men, and they certainly don’t run around naked, howling at the moon. But then, no-one ever called Fallon a good girl. As a human unofficially mated to an Alpha werewolf, Fallon is being pressured to “become”...or be gone. Her mate Aiden, the interim leader of the Olde Town Pack, is in a position that demands he either choose a wolf mate...or leave the pack forever. No matter how hot the sex with Fallon is, he can’t ignore centuries of tradition. Become a wolf or not. If only the choice were that simple. Fallon’s options are further clouded by the overt presence of other females desperate to be the Alpha’s mate. And when these bitches get serious, it’s not just claws that come out. If Fallon wants to keep her man and take the title she’ll have to exert a little dominance of her own.
Book 6: Dark Salvation - A gathering storm of violence is on the horizon. Whispered threats of the Acta Sanctorum’s return have the supernatural world abuzz. Only recently aware of the other world hidden behind our own, Kitara Vanders has barely scratched the surface of what being supernatural truly means. A special woman in her own right, she possesses unique telepathic abilities, gifts that have recently come under the scrutiny of the Acta Sanctorum, a fanatical organization whose mission is to cleanse the world of anything supernatural. Targeted, and marked for death, Kitara’s only hope lies with the lethally seductive yet emotionally scarred warrior, Nicholas.
Knowing full well the atrocities the Acta Sanctorum is capable of, Nicholas is all too eager for the battle to begin. Fueled by pain and rage from the loss of his mate, he’s itching for a fight, but one thing stands in his way, Kitara: a beautiful dark-haired woman with unique psychic abilities and an unusual link to the Saints. Despite his resolve to remain focused on his mission, a purely physical relationship binds them together in a way neither of them expected. And when her life hangs in the balance, Nicholas finds his own is teetering on the edge too.

Thanks again, Katie, for stopping by and telling us about your vampires.
Katie's take on vamps is similar to my own, bringing out the more human sides of these paranormal creatures but still keeping them deadly - although, my vamps do go after innocents sometimes. *cough* Bastian, you bad vampire. *cough*
What do you guys love most about vampires? Is it the danger, their seductive ways, their human sides? What do you think about Katie's approach? Have you read any of her books?

For this hop, instead of me putting in my two cents on the Vampire Vs. Zombie debate, I’ve decided to sit back and watch while a few of the characters from my books give their opinions—although, I’ll probably butt in to their conversation a bit. I know they’re even more biased than me since they are vampires, but it should still be fun. I did write it from my POV, though.

And now for the debate...
Bastian Evanko sat back in his seat and rolled his eyes. “I don’t understand why the hell we’re debating this. Vampires are real, zombies aren’t, end of discussion.” Then he pinned me with a glare. “And I don’t know why you insist on making us do these stupid blog posts all the time.”
After all these stupid blog posts, I’d become immune to his pseudo-threat posturing.
His brother, Donovan, sighed. “Stay on topic, little brother, and leave Lorraine out of this. If not for her, we wouldn’t exist. You’d do well to remember that.” He shot a sexy smile my way. “As for the topic at hand, why don’t we forget reality and look at the entertainment industry—the movies, TV shows, and books. It would seem our time in the spotlight is over and zombies are the creatures of the moment.”
“And it’s about damn time.” Johnathan McCombs scrubbed a hand over his face. “If I have to see one more sparkling vampire, I’m either going to take myself out or show everyone what a real vamp can do.” His eyes silvered and he flashed a little fang. “Let the zombies have all the glory. It takes the attention away from us so we can hide our existence easier.”
Olivia Fournier sauntered in and sat down next to Johnathan’s sire, Alexander Mitchell.
Donovan glowered at her. “How nice of you to finally grace us with your presence.”
Alex leaned forward. “Not now. We all agreed to leave our grudges outside the door, remember?”
Donovan grunted. “Whatever.”
"If Johnathan and Bastian can get along, then you and Olivia can, as well." Alex nodded at Olivia.
A wide grin turned up the corners of her lips. “Thank you, Alexander.” A second later, she focused on Johnathan. “As usual, you make a valid point. With all the focus on vampires over the last few decades, it has been difficult to remain hidden. Humans have had vampires on their minds too much. They have noticed things they would normally have ignored, a flash of silver here, a preternaturally-quick movement there. Let them focus on zombies. I hear there’s a new zombie movie out with Brad Pitt in it. That should keep their attention for a while.”
I couldn’t keep quiet any more. “Come on guys. You can’t be serious. If people give up on vamps, where will that leave your books? And what about True Blood? What about Underworld? The Black Dagger Brotherhood? What about Lestat?” I looked to each of them, waiting for a reaction, but they all sat stone-faced. “Fine, if you don’t care about those vamps, what about the readers who have come to love you? Should I just delete all my files and let you die?”
Was I really arguing with my fictional characters again? They always drew me in. Sometimes I wondered if they did it on purpose.
Alex rose, strutted over to my chair, and extended his hand. I slipped my fingers into his palm and stood.
He raised my hand to his lips and feathered a kiss across my skin. “We will be eternally grateful for all you have done for us, for giving us life. And no, we do not wish to die with the click of a mouse.” Still cradling my hand, he turned to the others. “I believe this discussion is over. Vampires are and always will be superior to zombies. We aren’t mindless creatures. We have strength and power they will never possess. And there will always be humans who prefer us over any other paranormal being—real or fake.”
I couldn’t have said it better myself. Alex always was the voice of reason. Damn, I love my vampires.

Nocturnal Bites Blurb...
This anthology contains the first three novelettes/novellas of the series. Each of these books focuses on vampire Bastian Evanko, starting over two hundred years ago in England withNothing Lasts Forever and the tragic series of events that triggers his desire for retribution and earns him the punishment of two hundred years in exile.

The edits on Night Therapy are coming along great, and I wanted to share another little teaser excerpt. This time, instead of a scene between hero, Johnathan McCombs, and heroine, Stephanie Taylor, I'm giving you a little taste of what happens when Stephanie goes to Nocturnal Surrender and comes face-to-face with the vampire/bartender who wants to kill her; everyone's favorite bad-boy vamp, hell bent on retribution, Bastian Evanko.
Also, I just wanted to remind everyone that the $0.99 sale on my books will be ending in the next few weeks so if you haven't done so yet, grab your copies before the sale is over. With the release of Night Therapy coming up in less than two months, it's the perfect time to catch up on the beginning of the series so you'll be ready for this novel. EXCERPT
As she took a seat at the bar, she focused on the poor, ignorant fools being used for food—just like she had been—and nausea bubbled in the pit of her stomach. Unsure if she was angry with Christof for using her or with herself for allowing him to, she clenched her fists and gritted her teeth. The intimate display of a couple in one of the booths hit a little too close to home.
Dark curls were carelessly brushed aside to allow the vampire access to the petite woman’s neck. After encircling her with his arm—moving much faster than a human being should be able to—he leaned in to her throat and bit down.
Stephanie shuddered. How could she have allowed herself to be taken advantage of like that after all she’d gone through in the past? How could she have been so stupid to think this was acceptable? She was a psychologist.
Damn it. I should have known better.
What kind of world had she stumbled--
“What can I get you?”
She jumped, nearly falling off the stool when the bartender interrupted her thoughts. She turned and stared at the…vampire. With his silver eyes and fangs, he had to be one of them.
Fear gripped her as her body numbed and all sounds and thoughts faded to a low hum. A wave of dizziness overtook her, but it was as if someone, or something, held her upright. An invisible force pressed gently against her all around.
Unable to move, she was on the verge of panicking when the mountain of a vampire laughed with the same deep tone he’d spoken in. He gave her a sadistic grin, and she snapped out of it as if nothing had happened.
Did he do that to me?
Resting his enormous hands on the bar, he raised an eyebrow. “So, you know about us, do you? I’m going on break in a minute and I could go for a little snack.”
“Uh…I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Her voice cracked and was far too quiet for anyone to hear over the music.
“Don’t play with me. I can feel it in you, and I can smell his scent on you. You know what we are. But he didn’t bite you so that means you’re up for grabs, and I wouldn’t mind doing some biting and grabbing.” The fierceness in his silvery glare made it clear he wasn’t joking.
She tried to swallow as she trembled inside, but a lump stuck in her throat. She had to get out of there. Fast.

And now, I’ll let the vampire himself take over. Go for it, Baz…
Yeah, thanks so much for setting up another one of these fu— I mean, another of these wonderful character posts.
*rolls his eyes*
So…I guess I should tell everyone about myself. I think I’ll do this a little different than normal. How about a check list so I can skip the miserable story that is my life?
Well, there you have it. That’s my effed-up life. Yes, there’s far more to my past, but I’m not going there. I have to focus on getting to know Nicole better and plotting my retribution on Rosenbaum.
I know my worthless ass—sorry, I can’t hold back anymore—doesn’t deserve someone as wonderful as Nicole, but I’m tired of being looked at like a monster, even by other vampires.
There has to be something worth loving in me.
*scrubs a hand over his face*
Who the hell am I kidding? Like I said before; I’m sure she’ll decide I’m worthless, too.
Screw it, I’m leaving. Thanks for making me think about all the miserable things in my life, Lorraine. Hope it was worth it.
*slams the door on his way out*
Poor Bastian. Sometimes I feel so bad for what I put him through in his books, and what he’ll be going through in the rest of the series. Hopefully he can forgive me one day.
Since he cut his post a little short, how about an excerpt from one of his books?

So…I guess I should tell everyone about myself. I think I’ll do this a little different than normal. How about a check list so I can skip the miserable story that is my life?
- My fiancée, Elise, was murdered in front of me two hundred years ago by that bast— uh, by that pompous ex-Enforcer, Christof Rosenbaum.
- I was sentenced to—you guessed it—two hundred years in exile for trying to stop him.
- Part of my sentence was I could only feed on animal blood during that time.
- Now that I can feed on humans again, the bloodlust gets hard to control sometimes.
- My brother, Donovan, thinks I’m worthless and reckless, and so does everyone else.
- Except…this hot little stripper I met, Nicole French, AKA, Darling Nikki. But give her time. I’m sure she’ll grow to despise me one day.
- Oh, and I saved the best for last. I have a score to settle with that bast— with Rosenbaum. Either he’ll pay with his life or someone he loves will.
- Okay, one more thing. I effing hate not being able to effing cuss. If I hadn’t promised Lorraine I’d do this post, I’d be out of here right now.
Well, there you have it. That’s my effed-up life. Yes, there’s far more to my past, but I’m not going there. I have to focus on getting to know Nicole better and plotting my retribution on Rosenbaum.

*slams the door on his way out*
Poor Bastian. Sometimes I feel so bad for what I put him through in his books, and what he’ll be going through in the rest of the series. Hopefully he can forgive me one day.
Since he cut his post a little short, how about an excerpt from one of his books?
Nocturnal Surrender: Chapter One Excerpt
This wasn’t the homecoming Bastian Evanko had hoped for after two hundred years in exile. Getting berated by his brother served as a reminder of how strained their relationship had always been. Apparently the time apart had done nothing to mend old wounds.
So much for a starting over.
Donovan paced behind his mahogany desk, blond hair falling perfectly down the back of his expensive suit. “You shouldn’t be here. You know better. This city is no good for you, not with your past.”
Bastian gripped the wooden armrests of the pretentious-looking chair where Donovan had commanded him to sit. “My sentence is over. I will come and go as I please now. Spending the last two centuries in isolation was almost more than I could take.” He loosened his hold when the wood cracked. If he turned the chair into kindling, he’d never hear the end of it.
A point Donovan confirmed when he stopped and glared. “You’d better not destroy my office, little brother. The last thing we need is a repeat of what happened—”
“Oh, please. How long are you going to keep bringing that up?” Bastian clenched his fists and stood, nearly knocking the fucking chair backward. “And stop calling me little brother. Two years makes no difference after nearly a millennia.”
In an instant, Donovan moved to face Bastian. His eyes turned silver and his fangs extended. “Do not think to challenge me, little brother. As long as I have to keep cleaning up your messes, I’ll call you whatever I damn well please.” He waved a dismissive hand and returned to his desk, eyes reverting to their usual pale blue as his fangs receded. The monster within was hidden behind his baby face once more. No one would ever suspect a murderous creature lurked beneath that innocent façade.
With a deep breath, Bastian sucked in the amped-up vampiric testosterone saturating the air. The tension between them was suffocating, and the next move rested on his shoulders. He could take the all-too-familiar road of trying to prove himself with a physical display and allow the powder keg to explode, or…
“You’re right. I have made many mistakes, but you also know I’ve done nothing wrong since you stood up for me with the Elders and convinced them to spare my life.” Hand extended, Bastian crossed the room and stopped a respectable distance away. “Please, Donovan, let’s put the past behind us and move forward. How can I make amends if you won’t give me the opportunity?”
There was silence except for the ticking of the large antique clock on the bookcase. Soundproof walls allowed in nothing from the nightclub beyond the office door, or from the bustling city outside.
Donovan glanced at the proffered hand then locked gazes with Bastian, his expression unreadable.
For a moment, Bastian wished vampires weren’t able to shield their thoughts from each other. His shoulders stiffened. A few more seconds of being ignored and he’d lose the tenuous grasp he had on his temper.
In the past, he would have blown by now—verbally and physically—without regard for the consequences. His poor impulse control had created a rift between him and Donovan long ago. He never did anything right in his brother’s eyes, resulting in far too many years of Donovan’s condescending attitude. But he wanted his brother to see he was different now, and the only way for that to happen was to fight the anger.
Pressure built under his gums. His fangs ached to descend. Swallowing hard, he licked his teeth.
Still normal, but not for long.

Praise for the Series
“The chemistry between Bastian and Nicole is off the charts HAWT! WOW!! The world building is interesting and the plot is very intriguing. I love the author’s writing style and the editing was spot on. If you are a fan of Erotic PNR, you are going to love this series. It’s kind of like Laura Wright meets Lora Leigh with a pinch of JR Ward thrown in the mix.” Danie – Amazon Kindle reviewer.
“I am digging this Novella series by Lorraine Pearl. I finished Nocturnal Surrender & immediately purchase the next book in the series, Midnight Confessions. Great back story, character & story development. Oh, and let’s not skip over the hot and I mean incredibly hot sex between Bastian & Nicole that makes you weak in the knees & tingly all over.” Sharon – Amazon Kindle reviewer.
I hope you enjoyed Bastian's visit today. Leave a comment to let me know what you think about him. Does this hotheaded vamp do it for you? Do you prefer bad boys? What is your favorite paranormal creature? Mine is obviously a bad-boy vampire.
And don't forget to grab the first books in the series while they are on sale.
