FREE eBooks! That's right, you can now read my eBooks FREE on Kindle Unlimited. It's a great way to jump into my vampiric world and binge read the first books of my Nocturnal Surrender Series in preparation for the next novel to be released in the series. If you love sexy vampires that actually bite, then this is the series for you. Personal UpdatesI know you haven't heard from me for a while. Let's just say this has been one hell of a beginning to the year. First, I rang in the New Year in the hospital. Setback number one. Down and dirty version of what happened? Here goes. Severe lower right abdominal pain to the point of deciding within half an hour I needed to go to the ER. Wasn't there long before I found out it was a large mass on my ovary, twisting and killing my ovary--hence the severe pain. Next, they send me to another hospital by ambulance because I not only have the mass but blood clots in my lung. They scared my husband and son into thinking I was dying right then and there. It was true that I would have died if they hadn't caught the blood clots and went ahead with removing the mass right away as they normally do in these cases. Apparently it takes about five days or more for the ovary to die, which means that many days of excruciating pain. That's why they normally do the surgery immediately. Thank goodness for good pain killers, but I had to stay in the hospital the majority of those days. I was also put on blood thinners to help with the clots--they also found another in my leg. Okay, so I dodged a huge bullet there. The soonest they could do the surgery was six weeks, so they scheduled it for 2/20/17, and we couldn't find out if the mass was cancerous until the surgery. Second, we had a death in the family not long after I was released from the hospital. As deaths always do, this threw us into another tailspin that we have yet to come out of and that will be affecting us for a long time to come, including possibly having to move at some point soon. Third, a few weeks before the surgery was scheduled I ended up with severe bronchitis. I have never been so sick for so long. I couldn't go to work for over two weeks, on top of already missing two weeks between being in the hospital and the bereavement time off--all unpaid. So...I go to the hospital and start getting prepped for surgery even though I was still not over the bronchitis. They wanted to try getting the surgery in anyway, but when the anesthesiologist saw me she said there was no way they would do the surgery. I could end up with pneumonia or worse. Postponed for another month, which brings me to... Fourth, I finally had my surgery on 3/20/17, an almost complete hysterectomy. They kept the left ovary in there for hormonal reasons since it was in good shape, but everything else is gone. Great news--NO CANCER. Other great news--she was able to do the surgery with four laparoscopic incisions so I'm not in much pain, but I will be off work without pay again for at least four weeks. Now for the freaky part. Apparently, some masses/cysts/tumors can have teeth, hair, brain tissue, etc. in them. Mine apparently had teeth and hair. It was a 17 centimeter mass, which is pretty damn big, almost 7 inches. Go ahead and do an image search if you want to see some crazy stuff. So I'm healing up now, but needless to say, I haven't gotten much writing done this year. Book UpdatesI'm still working--however slowly--on the next book in my Nocturnal Surrender Series. This novel is over half done already. If I buckle down, it will be finished in no time. Hopefully, now that the majority of the chaos is over I will be able to start working more on this and my other books.
